WORKS COUNCIL
This 2-day training includes everything needed for a WoCo (Works Council) to get off to a flying start. It covers essential knowledge and insights, practical skills, and team-building elements to ensure the WoCo starts strong as a cohesive team. The training is interactive, combining theory and practice to ensure the content is truly internalized. As part of the preparation, participants are invited to submit specific cases from their own organization. These will be incorporated into the training day, making the learning immediately relevant and applicable to their own work environment.
During the training days, you’ll learn everything you need as a WoCo member to start your work with confidence: the roles and responsibilities of the WoCo, the Dutch Works Councils Act (WCA), its practical application, and more. Together, the WoCo will define its mission and vision and create a plan to bring that vision to life. We’ll also focus on the team roles, some team-building, and establishing work agreements to ensure everyone is doing the right thing at the right time.
Since the WoCo works closely with colleagues, we’ll determine how the WoCo will inform and involve them, and we’ll create a communication plan to realise this.
If desired, the director and other stakeholders can join part of the training (e.g. a half-day session) to ensure a strong start to employee participation within the organization.
After completing this training, the WoCo will:
- Understand the different roles it plays in various situations
- Understand the key articles of the Works Councils Act (WOR) and how to apply them constructively
- Be well-organized and capable of working efficiently
- Have developed insights and skills to influence decision-making by the director and others
- Operate from a clear mission and vision
- Have developed an annual plan
- Have a communication plan to raise awareness and engage colleagues
- Know how to collaborate effectively as a team

Topics:
Day 1:
- Basic knowledge about WoCo work
- The role and position of the WoCo
- The Works Councils Act (WOR) and its practical application
- Mission of the WoCo and vision on employee participation
Day 2:
- Working methods of the WoCo, WoCo meetings, and decision-making processes
- The dialogue between the director and the WoCo
- Communication with employees and the development of a communication plan
- Creating the WoCo annual plan
- Team building activities
- Optional: Joint session with the director, HR, and/or management

Duration: 2 days from 9:30 AM to approximately 4:30 PM
